20 years ago today my brother grabbed a diet coke went down to the garage to watch the johnny carson show – before he sat down to watch he turned on the car – then he sat down, drank his coke and gradually left us here… My brother was bi-poler and an alcoholic he was not taking his meds… he was 49 and did not make it to 50. You can only do what you can do – sometimes just being there is not enough…

To me Ramadan is a a spiritual journey special to Muslims – I honour and respect their days as I do all others – Buddhists – Christians – Jews – Hindus – et al.
I am not religious- my journey is a spiritual one. I have chosen to learn about other religions – the more we learn we can respect the paths of other – it is not about agreeing – just understanding their hearts. It is amazing how similar they are.
My prayers for these days is unconditional love and unconditional compassion with unconditional forgiveness for yourself and others – with peace and healing for ALL people… Namaste!

MS Shriver, a true gift she is to all humanity, has always seen everyone all as “special” and what ever talents we posses as most phenomenal and beautiful…

Phenomenal Woman
by Maya Angelou
Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I’m not cute or built to suit a fashion model’s size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I’m telling lies.
I say,
It’s in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.
I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It’s the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.
Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can’t touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them,
They say they still can’t see.
I say,
It’s in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.
Now you understand
Just why my head’s not bowed.
I don’t shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It’s in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
The palm of my hand,
The need for my care,
‘Cause I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

… if it is not going on in my backyard – I can’t/won’t do anything because I cannot do anything about it – that is just so much bullshit…
The truth is we are so damn busy blaming the republicans or the democrats or someone other than ourselves that we are failing to see that we have DO our own personal power to make a difference in the world. Do we tolerate racism? – do we tolerate gay bashing? – on some level – yes – by way of not DOING what we should be doing.
["All I know is that first you've got to get mad. You've got to say: 'I'm a human being, goddammit. My life has value.' So I want you to get up now. I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. I want you to get up right now and go to the window, open it, and stick your head out and yell, 'I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore! from 'Network' (screenplay by Paddy Chayefsky ]
In other words get of our complacent asses and do something – even if it seems insignificant – DO it – In my home I do what I call a Maya Angelou – I do not allow gossip at all – Goldi Hawn has a sign that states that this is a gossip free zone – gossip is what the so called powers want us to be focused on…

It is this belief in a power larger than myself and other than myself, which allows me to venture into the unknown and even the unknowable.

You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face.
You are able to say to yourself, “I lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.
You must do the thing you think you cannot do.

At the center of your being you have the answer;
you know who you are and you know what you want.

Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them, humanity cannot survive.

Beloveds, now we know that we know nothing
Now that our bright and shining star can slip away from our fingertips like a puff of summer wind
Without notice, our dear love can escape our doting embrace
Sing our songs among the stars and and walk our dances across the face of the moon
In the instant we learn that Michael is gone we know nothing
No clocks can tell our time and no oceans can rush our tides
With the abrupt absence of our treasure
Though we our many, each of us is achingly alone
Piercingly alone
Only when we confess our confusion can we remember that he was a gift to us and we did have him
He came to us from the Creator, trailing creativity in abundance
Despite the anguish of life he was sheathed in mother love and family love and survived and did not more than that
He thrived with passion and compassion, humor and style
We had him
Whether we knew who he was or did not know, he was ours and we were his
We had him
Beautiful, delighting our eyes
He raked his hat slant over his brow and took a pose on his toes for all of us and we laughed and stomped our feet for him
We were enchanted with his passion because he held nothing
He gave us all he had been given
Today in Tokyo, beneath the Eiffel Tower, in Ghana’s Blackstar Square, in
Johannesburg, in Pittsburgh, in Birmingham, Alabama and Birmingham England, we are
missing Michael JacksonBut we do know that we had him
And we are the world.

“Some people come into our lives and quickly go.
Some people move our souls to dance.
They awaken us to new understanding
With the passing whisper of their wisdom.
Some people make the sky
More beautiful to gaze upon.
They stay in our lives for awhile,
Leave footprints on our hearts
And we are never, ever the same.”

FOR OUR WORLD
We need to stop.
Just stop.
Stop for a moment.
Before anybody
Says or does anything
That may hurt anyone else.
We need to be silent.
Just silent.
Silent for a moment.
Before we forever lose
The blessing of songs
That grow in our hearts.
We need to notice.
Just notice.
Notice for a moment.
Before the future slips away
Into ashes and dust of humility.
Stop, be silent, and notice.
In so many ways, we are the same.
Our differences are unique treasures.
We have, we are, a mosaic of gifts
To nurture, to offer, to accept.
We need to be.
Just be.
Be for a moment.
Kind and gentle, innocent and trusting,
Like children and lambs,
Never judging or vengeful
Like the judging and vengeful.
And now, let us pray,
Differently, yet together,
Before there is no earth, no life,
No chance for peace.

“Michael Jackson was an exceptional Human Being. He was gifted, deeply compassionate and brought joy to the lives of so many. He loved his family dearly, and above all, his beautiful children.
In addition to being my employer over the past 17 years and entrusting the care of his beloved children to me, he was my dear friend. While our friendship had challenges, as do all friendships, he was loyal to the end. I cherish and honor his memory.
I am shocked, hurt and deeply saddened by recent statements the press has attributed to me, in particular, the outrageous and patently false claim that I “routinely pumped his stomach after he had ingested a dangerous combination of drugs”. I don’t even know how to pump a stomach!! In addition, I have never spoken to the Times Online, the original source of the story that has now been picked up worldwide. The statements attributed to me confirm the worst in human tendencies to sensationalize tragedy and smear reputations for profit.
I convey my heartfelt and deepest condolences to Prince, Paris, Blanket and the entire Jackson family. The pain and sorrow I feel over the loss of Michael pales in comparison to what has been taken from them forever.”
